@Junior Scoop: A Peripatetic Walk with Tim Yip
Ma Hiu Chun, a student from Hong Kong, was given an opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Tim Yip, an internationally renowned visual art master, in which a conversation between the two generations across lines of time and space was conducted. In 2001, Tim Yip, one of the representative figures in the film industry in Hong Kong, won the Academy Award for Best Production Design for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. In recent years, he involved himself in many different fields and designed the Champion Dragon Suit for the Chinese team at the Tokyo Olympic Games. He said that Chinese people often talk about "ascent", which represents a standard that transcends the secular world and is also the source of China's traditional beauty. "If I can make something internal rather than external, it will be a great achievement of our culture. The invisible power is vital to me." “With the world changing dramatically, we need to find our origins inside us, and then start from there and be prepared to receive messages from all over the world more openly,” Tim said to the younger generation, “And we create a new form of ourselves and to face the future. I think we have to put positive energy to work on ourselves and for society.”
