VNRose3's video: Jacques Brel La Bastille French English Subtitles

@Jacques Brel La Bastille French & English Subtitles
In September of 1955, Jacques Brel saw the brutal, bloody war Algeria waged for its independence and told his friend Jojo and his wife Miche that the French should get out. In October of the same year, he wrote this song, criticizing both the left and the right for violent extremism which leads to war, destruction and death. Jojo was the communist, Miche probably the bourgeois. The idealistic young Jacques insisted "no dream ever deserves a war." If you listen to the orchestration by Andrew Popp, it sounds like a royalist victory march, but it's actually the earliest pacifist antiwar song I know of. "They destroyed the Bastille and it didn't fix anything. ....We need to love each other." And yet, the attacks continue. in better res here:https://vimeo.com/175962760
