Like the roots of a tree, your posture is only as steady as the alignment which begins with your connection to the ground. When your bones fail to line up properly, compressive force is placed on the outer areas of your joints where the cartilage is thin and cannot withstand the force. This stress can damage the cartilage of your joints and increase the potential for painful osteoarthritis. Poor alignment also places stress on ligaments, which are bands of fibrous tissue that hold joints together. This stress can cause chronic pain and weakness. Correct alignment is critical to strength and balance, which is optimized when forces of stress are borne evenly along the lower extremities instead of at unnatural angles to the bones. Optimal alignment occurs when foot, ankle, knees and hip bones are posturally straight and able to commit to supporting the upper body as it moves. Solid roots must begin in the feet. SelectFlex orthotic insoles are designed to fit into most athletic, work or casual shoes, including sneakers, work boots and some dress shoes. They are not designed for open-toe shoes, sandals, high heels, loose fitting boots, corrective shoes or certain low profile dress shoes or slip-ons. As a general rule, if you do not wear socks with a particular style dress shoe (or if you wear only very thin socks or stockings), SelectFlex may not be appropriate in that particular shoe. Note: Before assessing proper fit, you will have to remove your footwear's factory insert and replace it with SelectFlex. It is simple to trim SelectFlex's toe bed if your shoe happens to fall between sizes. WIDE FEET. If you have wide feet and normally go up a half size to attain additional room in your shoe, we recommend NOT doing this when choosing your size for SelectFlex. The shell of our orthotic is constructed to fit your foot size and NOT your shoe size, so we recommend that you actually do not go up that half size. For example, if your foot size is 10.5 and you usually buy an 11.0 shoe to compensate for a wide foot, we recommend you try a size D (9.5 - 10.5). By choosing the appropriate size, your heel will fit more comfortably into the heel cup and the arch support will be in its proper place. VARIABLE SETTINGS. Another unique advantage of SelectFlex is the ability to have different settings for each foot. Some people will have different arch conditions per each foot feet, requiring different levels of arch support. With SelectFlex you can test settings on both feet to determine which are best for your unique requirements.
