Ella Fitzgerald who single-handedly rebranded a classic nursery rhyme "A Tisket A Tasket, A Green and Yellow Basket” or "A Tisket, A Tasket, The Wrong Colored Baske”t – as an ironic version of the New York Post," into the hit single “A-Tisket A-Tasket,” (label Decca; Chick Webb and His Orchestra, lyrics-arranger Al Feldman) thus launched her extremely successful and long career: It was 2 May 1938 – 85 years ago! Really, by this “Sensation of the Century” she started a way to be a greatest feminine singer in the history of the USA! Anna Schiff –-a recent alumnus of the Catholic and Jesuit Georgetown University –- presented at the stage of the Gonda Theatre two other hits of Ella Fitzgerald in their modern interpretations. And she did it extremely well. Happy Birthday, Anna! I wish you musical accomplishments at the world jazz stage! I bring my excuses to the Georgetown University Jazz Ensemble of this historic concert that not all the musicians were titled in this video. But I do not know these names.
