The market town of Sankt Wolfgang (Austria) is located in a privileged place at the North end of Lake Wolfgang (Wolfgangsee), at the foot of the Schafberg mountain. From St. Wolfgang a cog railway leads up onto the 1,768m high Schafberg. It is the steepest steam Cog Railway in Austria and covers a distance of 6km in approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the peak of the Schafberg, a gorgeous view of the Lake opens up along with the surrounding villages of Strobl and St. Gilgen. One of Austria’s most enchanting lake resorts, St. Wolfgang enjoys an especially picturesque setting on the shores of Lake Wolfgang.
