@Bayfiles.net hosts Malware camouflaged as Flash Player - Possibly Compromised?
Bayfiles.net (or Bayfiles.com) is a website that allows you to upload and share files.I decided to give it a try today. I uploaded a simple text file then received a download link.Once I navigated to download link I was redirected to a page that served a fake FlashPlayer which was in reality a malware. My antivirus blocked the page and you can tell by the blocked link that it blocked a file named FlasPlayer.I already have flash player on my PC and besides that , Chrome does not require a separate Flash plugin to be installed because it has a built-in flash player so the link blocked by my AV was indeed malicious. This is one of the most common ways that people get infected. They are told that they need some plugin to view the content on the website and when they install the recommended plugin they get infected. Stay away from this website and don't send any links to your friends or else they will get infected without knowing.
