JUDE GOLD MUSINGS ON JEFFERSON AIRPLANE'S 1967 "EMBRYONIC JOURNEY" MURIEL ANDERSEN P.8 NAMM 2013 Muriel Andersen's annual All-Star Guitar Night at NAMM promotes the "Music for Life Alliance" non-profit 501(c) & music ed benefit.. the other artists participate in a huge jam at the end. Auction proceeds are put to work for kids across the country. This is part 8, Jude Gold breezes in throughout his Eric Johnsonesque dissertation, ending in a Toccatta-Malaguena riff that just sparkles.. just drips with delay and echo at just the right volume. Some may or may not be surprised to know he is a long-term Dean and director at GIT Guitar Institute of Technology here in Hollywood. Outside the ballroom each year, there is a charity silent auction of brand-new, manufacturer donated products like recorders, software, guitars basses and pro services. Main sponsors were Yamaha Guitar Corp. and GHS Strings. 2013 was at the Marriott which was awesome, because their new ballroom is only 3 years old and expanded to fit EVERYONE. Across the street at the Hilton, events were off in the corner upstairs, and it smells of the decades and meeting people was too much, you'd always lose people. Hope it stays at Marriott for 2014. Last covered this in 2007 when I brought in a Fox News team and we interviewed Jimmy and Dick Dale, Jonny Hiland, Seymour Duncan, Muriel, Robben Ford, George Lynch, Ritchie Kotzen, Sarah Maclachlen and many others throughout the week.
