I've been around robins my entire life, but I confess to having no idea that once their babies hatch, mom and dad robin have a waste management system like none I have ever seen. I trimmed our lilac bushes and found this nest, first with four blue robin eggs, but later only three. All three eggs hatched and now we have fuzzy baby birds hungry for the worms and other delectables their mom and dad bring for them. While daddy robin doesn't eat his young, he does seem to eat, or at least repurpose, his babies' poo-poo. No, that's not marshmallow cream...!
