Villenege's video: JOKER Vivified

@JOKER | Vivified
Chapters of Film The second instalment to my Chapters of Film series. JOKER follows the story of one Arthur Fleck - a man whose mental illness is isolated and exploited by the cruel society that is 1980s Gotham. Arthur's journey from wallowing in poverty to shining as the grandest serial killer of his time is as tragic as it is mystifying. This film resonated with me greatly, such a gritty character study that one would not expect to see in the superhero genre. Todd Phillips' bold vision of depicting a gruelling and unforgiving Gotham City that imprisons the innocent soul of Arthur and shackles him to the jaws of insanity is absolutely stunning. Joaquin Phoenix's stellar performance makes this picture what it is and lands it amongst the best of 2019. This edit was emotionally taxing and encapsulating for me to produce. Arthur's tumultuous tale is heartbreaking and the slow descent into apathetic madness his character lapses into is disturbingly compelling. Compartmentalising this story and depicting segments of key plots was extremely enjoyable and it only made me adore this movie even more. The third instalment of this series will most likely be Tarantino's latest film, Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood. Either that or Godzilla: King of the Monsters. I have many ideas for both but I'm not sure which to pursue first. - INTERACT WITH ME: Twitter - https://twitter.com/dyleel Letterboxd - https://letterboxd.com/dbok/
