Vintage Fans & More's video: Minka Aire Como Ceiling Fan

@Minka Aire Como Ceiling Fan
Minka Aire Como 54" ceiling fan in white with chrome accents. Shown using the proper Aire Control system. This is another fan that I found in the trash during Cleanup Week 2023. Normally with systems like this I would demonstrate reverse, but this one's reversing module seems to be a little buggy and doesn't always work on the first go, so I went without it for the video, but it does work if you give it a few tries. Maybe a playing factor in why it was thrown out? There was no control or receiver with it and I was debating just going generic, but I've had a proper basically NIB wall control on hand for years, so it seemed worth spending just a few bucks to get a receiver for it when it was looking like it'd clean up really well. Otherwise pretty complete, except for the canopy screw trim ring. Evidently never made it to the original install because it wasn't with the fan. I think I have some spares in other finishes I could quick spray white, but also not the most critical part to be missing. Honestly wasn't sure if I'd be keeping it complete, because the glass was SO scratched up from being set on concrete or some other abrasive surface. If something is that unpresentable, I don't see much value in it beyond parts because I'll never want to install it anywhere. But I found a hack using toothpaste to buff out scratches in glass, and amazingly pretty much everything disappeared except for one super deep scratch. Now I have so many other pieces of frosted and cased glass to fix for other fans! Runs well but has a pretty loud hum, airflow is decent for sure. The glossy blades make that annoying cracking sound moving to or from higher speeds, there’s not really a conducive way to address that with this particular design other than maybe some soft washers between the blades and hub. Will maybe try that if installed in the future. These mid-body soft contemporary designs are not really my thing and I never particularly cared for these, however I do kind of like this finish combo. Something a little different than usual, and I love white mixed with a silver tone. Stupid light kit design, though. The bulbs reflect directly on the rim above the glass and fry your retinas from most angles you try to look at it from. I realize most people don't just sit and stare at their fans like we collectors might, but it's just bad design. I don't want to be blinded as my gaze passes by. Overall was happy to snag it. I don't have much Minka representation, so I do enjoy grabbing what I can find.
