Violet Deliriums's video: Til Tuesday - Voices Carry guitar cover

This is my cover of 'Til Tuesday's song "Voices Carry" (1985) which is about a sort of psychologically abusive relationship that the song's female protagonist finds herself in, in which the man expects the woman to remain silent so that he can dominate and control. In other words, she is in love with an asshole. I played it on a Fender Standard Stratocaster with HSS pickup configuration that I just bought yesterday and I am still working the kinks out on. There is a problem with the nut, but other than that I really like this guitar! I used a Keeley Compressor and a Boss CE-5 Chorus to get the 80's "WHAPP" sound (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWljJl4wY24 if you want to know how to make this sound). I play the verse on the "Vintage" clean channel of a Fender Supersonic 22W amp, and in the chorus I switch to the "Burn" high-gain channel with a sort of overdrive like setting and add some ambient delay from a Line 6 DL4 ("Analog w/Mod" patch) at the end. I imitate the synthesizer solo by using two-hand tapping on the Burn channel with a more intense delay sound (with the same patch) and the Line 6 FM4 filter modeler. I recorded it by placing a Samson CO1U microphone near my amp and stereo speakers into my Mac using PhotoBooth. The image is reverse -- sorry I don't know how to fix it. I'm in the dark, I'd like to read his mind, but I'm frightened of the things I might find. Oh, there must be something he's thinking of to tear him away. I try so hard not to get upset because I know all the trouble I'll get. Oh, he tells me tears are something to hid and something to fear. And I try so hard to keep it inside so no one can hear.
