Violet Deliriums's video: The Supersuckers - Doublewide guitar cover

This is my cover of The Supersuckers' song "Doublewide" (1995) which is a mockery of rednecks and their outdated sexist attitudes. The lyrics speak from the first person of a hick who lives in a junk pile and beats his wife and kids. The Supersuckers cleverly fuse southern rock and punk to make this criticism. Look for this type of fusion or country in 1990s alternative rock and take it as irony, like when Primus or Ween do it. It is meant to make fun of old-fashioned traditional sexist America. I played it on my Fender Violet Deliriums ESM Signature Model Blacktop HH Jaguar (ESM = Explosive Space Modulator) which has Seymour Duncan SH-1 pickups, a killswitch, and some neato stickers on the pickguard. I ran it through my 1970s Silverface Twin Reverb with various effects. To create the sound, I used an MXR Custom Comp (all controls at 12 o'clock) and a Line 6 DM4 distortion (set on "Line 6 Distortion" patch with the treble cranked up higher than I normally go to get a sort of ratty southern rock sound like Molly Hatchet or something). I clicked on the Digitech XP-100 (wah patch ) during the guitar solos. To record it, I played the MP3 with my Mac on Itunes, and recorded it using the Mac's PhotoBooth program which puts it in mirror image (sorry). I used a Samson CO1U microphone with USB connection into my Mac. Got a beat up car up on blocks in my yard. Got a beat up wife that I hit too hard. Been blowing tea enough to make Willie laugh, Everything I own split in half. Brats at my feet im gonna tan their hide yeah ain't life sweet? Doublewide. Could have turned into something, but I'm diggin' a ditch. I'm the son of a bastard and the son of a bitch. Everything's okay got it under control. Put the septic tank in a new hole. Got something to say you better keep it inside. That'd be the day. Doublewide. Get me my TV dinner. Go get me a brew. Gather round the kids so they can have one too. Then we'll go do some donuts. Show them city slicks. 509 versus 206. I never ever did nothing that I ever denied. That's gotta count for something. Doublewide.
