Violet Deliriums's video: Rage Against The Machine - Bulls On Parade guitar cover

This is my cover of RATM's song "Bulls On Parade" (1996) which delves into what seem to be hypocritical conservative American politics surrounding "family values" while at the same time an advocacy of guns and violence such as local vigilantism, aggressive foreign policy in which many innocent people who happen to be there get killed, and in light of mass shootings transforming our schools into a war zone and turning our society into a surveillance police state so the authorities can make sure that those with guns don't misuse them. Furthermore, since the guns are available in the US but not in Canada or Mexico, criminals buy them here and smuggle them across the border. In effect, we are arming criminals in our neighboring countries, and since it poses a national security threat to us (as these criminals come into our country on business), we have to provide Customs and Border Patrol agents to prevent the smuggling of guns out of the US. Now, I am not saying don't have gun rights, but at least recognize that this right is something that ALL Americans pay for with tax dollars to fund these security forces and equipment. Therefore, the right to own certain kinds of guns is indeed a socialized program that not all Americans want to take advantage of, which is fine if you support it. Just admit it! All this while pretending to be upstanding citizens, not violent psychopaths, which is what many of you sound like or seem like when you conspicuously bear arms in this barbaric society you've created and force everyone to live within. I played it on my Fender Violet Deliriums ESM Signature Model Blacktop HH Jaguar (ESM = Explosive Space Modulator) which has Seymour Duncan SH-1 pickups, a killswitch, and some neato stickers on the pickguard. I tune in E-flat, one half-step lower than standard for this song. I ran it through my 1970s Silverface Twin Reverb with a Crybaby 535Q wah (set like Cantrell setting), Line 6 DM4 distortion modeler, and a touch of Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy analog delay. For the scratching, I turn the wah on and leave it in the down position to boost trebly noise, run my hands across the strings (in patterns I figured out to play various scratch-y riffs), and beep on the killswitch like it is a DJ's crossfader. To record it, I played the MP3 with my Mac on Itunes, and recorded it using the Mac's PhotoBooth program which puts it in mirror image (sorry). I used a Samson CO1U microphone with USB connection into my Mac.
