Bayern Munich 6-1 Porto (agg 7-4): Robert Lewandowski leads five-goal first-half blitz. Robert Lewandowski led a five-goal blitz in 26 minutes as Pep Guardiola’s side stamped their class on Porto and sounded a warning to the rest of Europe. Following a week of turmoil that saw them embarrassed in Portugal, the team doctor quit after being blamed for that loss, and Guardiola having to defend his methods, this was clinical football at its best. Thiago Alcantara started the comeback when he headed home unchallenged from Juan Bernat’s cross before Jerome Boateng made it 2-0 with a far-post header. That result alone would have put Munich through on away goals but they weren’t going to settle for that. Philipp Lahm and Thomas Muller did well to set up Lewandowski for the third headed goal of the game, this time a towering effort. And if Porto thought their luck was bad at that stage, there was worse to come. Muller picked up the ball and tried his luck from 25 yards. His shot deflected off Bruno Martins Indi and went through the legs of diving keeper Fabiano. Muller’s growing influence led to Lewandowski’s second and Munich’s fifth before half time when he cut a ball back to the Poland striker who took a couple of touches and fired home low into the corner. But captain Jackson Martinez gave them hope 17 minutes fromt time with a close-range header from Evandro’s cross, his eighth Champions League goal in 10 games. And four minutes later he went past two defenders only to see his shot from outside the area miss by inches. Marcano was sent off for Porto for a second yellow when he clattered Alcantara and from the free-kick, Xabi Alonso fired home number six to seal a place in the last four.
