Yankee Doodle Went to Town American Patriotic Song Instrumental with Lyrics played by The US Navy Marching Band. "Yankee Doodle" is a popular British-American song, which dates back to prior to the Seven Years' War and the American Revolutionary War (1775–83). It is often sung in the United States and is the official Connecticut state anthem. The tune is believed to originate from a 15th Century Dutch Harvest Song with lyrics added at various stages. The modern lyrics may be attributed to a Harvard College student Edward Bangs (1758-1818) who wrote a fifteen verse ballad although today typically the song is restricted to the first 3 or 4 verses are sung. The background flag in this video is described in the following Wiki – “The Betsy Ross flag is an early design of the flag of the United States, popularly – but very likely incorrectly – attributed to Betsy Ross, using the common motifs of alternating red-and-white striped field with five-pointed stars in a blue canton. The first documented usage of this flag was in 1792. The flag features 13 stars to represent the original 13 colonies with the stars arranged in a circle.” Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betsy_Ross_flag The full image shows a group of American minutemen (Civilian Militia) advance behind a Betsy Ross flag during the American Revolutionary War.
