@Colonel Kato's Falcon Squadron (1944) w/ English Subtitles - B&W / 109 mins
Kato hayabusa sento-tai (加藤隼戦闘隊?) aka Colonel Tateo Katō's Flying Squadron (64th Sentai) and aka Colonel Kato's Falcon Squadron is a 1944 black and white Japanese war film directed by Kajiro Yamamoto. It stars Susumu Fujita as Tateo Katō. It also features Minoru Takada and Denjirô Ôkôchi. The special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya are considered very advanced for 1944. A production of the Toho Motion Picture Company, 'Kato Hayabusa Sentotai' (Kato's Perigrin Falcon Squadron) was a propaganda biopic of a Japanese flying ace, Col. Tateo Katō, made after his death in 1942. Kato served with the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force in Southeast Asia and was credited with at least 18 aerial victories. The aircraft he and his men flew was the Nakajima Ki-43 'Hayabusa' fighter, of which actual examples were used in the film.
