WMC TV's video: Scott Manley on The Meg Ellefson Show Pewaukee Taxpayers Charged Illegal Taxes

The Village of Pewaukee is in hot water for continuing to impose its transportation tax even after the Wisconsin Court of Appeals struck it down as illegal. In 2022, WMC successfully sued the Village of Pewaukee, arguing the Village's transportation utility fee is an illegal tax. But the Village continued to collect the tax. Now WMC is asking the Court to require the Village to reimburse taxpayers the money they illegally collected. "The fact that they continued to unlawfully take money away from taxpayers and disobey, and completely disregard, the Court of Appeals decision... we think it's grounds for contempt of court," said WMC's Scott Manley in an interview with WSAU's Meg Ellefson. "This is an illegal tax. Now, we're trying to hold Pewaukee accountable for continuing to impose it after the courts told them they can't do it."
