I own this board :D Now I just need to get a life. By the end of the game, I had 38 character spaces on the board. Excluding all happening spaces, DK/Bowser spaces, duel spaces and miracle spaces, only 16 spaces weren't mine. I also want to point out that I didn't really go for the ones on the conveyor belt, because they get erased if the conveyor belt gets activated. The same goes for the spaces on which the star can appear. You can get a lot of orbs on this board, because of the many orb spaces that gives you one if you pass it. There is also a happening space that allows you to place up to 5 character spaces on the board (which costs money).
