@Must Visit In Your Mahabaleshwar Trip - Dakshin Kashi | Historical Village Wai
Namaste Everyone, whenever you plan to go Mahabaleshwar, you must include this ancient village called Wai which is famously known as Dakshin Kashi because of this town has more than 100 temples and it's history dates back to the era of Mahabharat. Wai is 1 hour away from Main Mahabaleshwar town and half an hour away from main Panchgani town. You can even visit this place while going to Mahabaleshwar or while returning back. Here are the places you must explore in this village. Start your day with taking blessing from Ganpati Bappa lovingly known as Dholya Ganpati. It's an 18th century temple and the idol of Bappa is very huge and beautiful. Time: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM Then just opposite of Ganpati Mandir there is an equally beautiful and ancient Shiv Temple known as Kashi Vishweshwar Temple. Along with temple there is one more thing that you should not miss is Deepmala or Prakash stambh in the temple complex. Time: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM Both of these temples are just beside the Krishna river and Ghat is very mesmerising and it truly feels like Kashi. From there you can go to Menvali Ghat where again there is one Shiva Temple and one Vishnu Temple. There is one more thing you need to see, that is a huge bell weighing approximately 650 kg brought here from Bassien Fort when Chimaji Appa defeated Portuguese. Ghat is very well maintained and you must have seen it in many movies like Gangajal, Swades, etc. Time: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Nearby the ghat, there is a Wada of Nana Phadnavis, a Peshwa Minister. Time: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM | Entry Fees: INR 70 Another very unique and according to us a must visit temple in Wai is Laxmi Narsinha temple, this temple is unique beacause it has Idol of Narsinha in two forms one is 'Ugra' and one is 'Soumya'. It's a very peaceful temple. In the complex there is also Siddheshwar Shiva Temple. These temples are again built on the Krishna ghat. You can end your day in Wai by visiting backwaters of Dhom Dam. If you visit be careful and don't go for swim inside the backwater and do not take unnecessary risk just for a picture or video.
