@Gold Sells off $30, Market rallies on bad housing Report "Live Trading"

European stock markets trimmed losses in late trade on Wednesday, as U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said he was optimistic that a deal can be reached with President Barack Obama to avert the fiscal cliff. The Stoxx Europe index traded 0.1% lower at 272.55, after trading as low as 271.11 earlier in the session. France's CAC 40 index reversed and gained 0.1% to 3,506.38, while Germany's DAX 30 index fell 0.2% to 7,231.46. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 index gave up 0.2% to 5,785.56.
