WaysToWatchcom's video: Chromecast Ultra Review

@Chromecast Ultra Review!!
This is the WaysToWatch.com review of the Chromecast Ultra. With the Ultra, Google has made a device with high end specs at a compelling price. How does it stack up amongst the competition? The Chromecast Ultra continues to incorporate a circular design with a magnetic HDMI connection. It is powered using micro USB. To maximize your image quality you can use the ethernet connection built into the power supply, but if that is not an option, you can use wifi. Chromecast supports the fastest wifi standard 802.11ac The Chromecast Ultra works through any of your mobile devices, it supports both Android and iOS devices. One minor change this year, the Google Home app is the way to see all of the options available to you for streaming. The only thing I dislike about this experience is that you have to leave the Home app to actually play what you selected. It is not a deal breaker, but feels a bit clunky. All of the major streaming services support Chromecast: Hulu, Netflix and Vudu minus iTunes of course. For music Spotify and Pandora are supported as well. Chromecast features screen mirroring from the Chrome browser on your laptop. Even though this feature works really well with minimal lag, I rarely see a need to use it. Now let’s get to the biggest selling point for the Chromecast Ultra, 4K and High Dynamic Range or HDR. The Ultra supports both HDR formats, HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR. These specs place the Chromecast at the top tier of streaming devices, easily beating out the Apple TV. Even though it takes a few seconds to ramp up to full resolution, 4K movies looked really good. For a streaming device the performance is acceptable, but not great. There are games to play, but skip this device for gaming. For $69, the Chromecast Ultra, without question is the most affordable device that supports both 4K and HDR. Even though the user experience can still be a bit choppy, the Ultra is a good buy, clearly dominating the current Apple TV in price and in specs. When compared to the Roku Ultra, it wins with price, but falls short with the overall user experience. Simply put, you will not regret this purchase. The specs of the Chromecast Ultra will keep this device relevant for years to come! Compared to the previous Chromecast, the Chromecast Ultra is faster and has higher specifications with 4K video and high dynamic range color. HDR is significant, because humans see more detail through color. HDR standards will evolve over time, but for the next few years the HDR standards included with the Chromecast Ultra will remain relevant.
