@India 360: Mysuru City Guide
In this video, we will see the best places to visit in Mysuru, the history of the city, how to get there, how to get around the city, what to eat and what to buy as souvenirs. Highlights: * The name Mysuru comes from Mahishasuramardhini, the chief goddess of the city situated at the city's iconic landmark, Chamundi Hill. * Mysuru is on the southern bank of Cauvery river. The Krishnarajasagara dam is built 16 km north of Mysuru. * Mysuru's famous palace belongs to the Wodeyar dynasty, who are still residents of the palace today. * Mysuru zoo is the oldest zoo in India. * Brindavana gardens, situated near Krishnarajasagara dam, are India's oldest curated gardens. * During Navratri and Dassera, Mysuru has city-wide celebrations, the pinnacle of which is the jumbo procession, where a herd of trained elephants carry the idol of Chamundi Devi across the city. * Mysuru has food unique to the city, so unique that certain food items are named after the city, e.g. Mysore masala dosa, Mysore bonda and Mysore pak. * Mysuru has several types of unique souvenirs, such as sandalwood soap, sandalwood oil, Mysuru woodwork and Mysuru portrait making. * It's fun to get around Mysuru using their corporation-owned public bicycles, Trin Trin.
