Today we went on a manatee snorkel excursion with Explorida. Citrus county Florida is the only place in Florida where it’s legal to swim with manatees! The excursion was 3 hours and we were able to see so many manatees. We were even lucky enough to have a few face to face encounters with several friendly manatees. It was absolutely amazing getting to swim amongst them rather than viewing from afar. We were also impressed with the amount of safety instructions and tips that we received prior to the tour that allowed us to achieve passive observation without interfering with the serenity of the manatees. We were educated to not approach, touch, or chase the manatees and to only engage and touch them if the manatee seeks us out (which happened so many times!!!). It was amazing!
