Wg Williams's video: Far From This War

A poem by, Wg Williams Dedicated to all the US service men and women past and present... Far From this War... Somewhere far, far away time stops for a warm summer day. Trees sway in the cool ocean breeze, Salt air, soft sand and blue skies are all I smell, feel and see. Sun shines thru tall shady palms of green and waves slowly break while seabirds sing. Below a hammock swings in the strands of light and shade, A safe place to stay, take me far, far away... A cool autumn day with leaves of red, yellow and gold. Deep in the hills of trees in the center of a forest so old. Windy fresh air ripples a rocky clear stream, On a blanket I lie and start to dream... In the purple sky an eagle soars over a white mountain peak, So far, far away from here do I seek. A cold starry winter night, Christmas songs and homes aglow; store windows, family gatherings, fireplaces and snow. A big turkey dinner and slice of warm pumpkin pie, on the sofa so full, I now lie. Children's laughter, white tree tops in the moon light, I dream that I only might... Somewhere a spring sun rises over a dew glistening field, along a brown dirt country road, a red tractor tills. Pink and violet wild flowers randomly abloom giving off all the smells of anew, In the distance valley a single rooster still crows and new kitten and puppy dogs start to grow, Too far, far away from here that I know... Far, Far from the sounds of bombs and burning smell of death, the blackish-grey ash of the land and small arms firing at what's left. The flashes of explosions and smoke that fills the air, with all these things for so long I still fight to bear... For the horror of all that's here and the greatness so far away from this front line, I dream of freedom and all that a hero leaves behind. © Wg Williams
