Take a walk in the amazing Crystal Cove State Park in Orange County, California! This was my first visit to this place. We walk around the bluffs, then head down a steep trail to the beach where we walk and visit the tide pools and the Historic District with its quaint cottages. Crystal Cove State Park is one of Orange County’s largest remaining examples of open space and natural seashore. It features 3.2 miles of beach, 2,400 acres of backcountry wilderness and an offshore underwater area. Visitors love to explore the tidepools for viewing sealife. The park also features the federally listed Historic District, an enclave of 46 vintage rustic coastal cottages originally built as a seaside colony (and also serving as a movie set) in the 1930’s & 40’s and nestled around the mouth of Los Trancos Creek. A lot of variety and interesting things to see here. The state parks and beaches generally charge a parking fee (like $15/day) that is well worth the price since it tends to keep the crowds down relative to other beaches.
