Alice N Chains (formerly Sleze)_Over Easy And Super Slezy Heavy Metal Recorded Live at The Little Tacoma Theatre-1987 "Layne's a slut, says Johnny Barcolas, the attractive greek bass player for Sleze. "Johnny's a dork," replies Layne, the equally attractive blonde vocalist. They both laugh. Sitting in their practice room at the Music Bank the other night, this kind of joking was frequent, obviously showing these guys are happy and comfortable with the band. With Johnny playing bass, "Candy" Layne singing ***, Nicky on guitar and "Bam Bamm" on drums, these guys make up the "funk, metal, jazz, rock, blues, and a little bit o' western punk" band Sleze. Sleze has been together for three years now, but the members have varied. Johnny, for example, played guitar for the band before switching to the bass. Jim Sheppard, now of the band Sanctuary, also used to play bass for Sleze. Things do get accomplished, though. The band has recorded a tape with the songs, "Liplock Rock" and "Sealed With a Kiss". "Liplock Rock" says Johnny, "is a musical step for us. We're expanding our horizon." The band spent months of production on this tape. Using trumpets, saxophone, and various Latin percussion in "Liplock Rock", the recording cost $1600.
