I am an adventure traveler who grew up as a part of The Long Family of Gorge River. We are the most isolated family in New Zealand. We live 2 days' walk from the nearest road on the South Island West Coast, between Haast and Milford Sound. Yesterday I flew home in a helicopter and my visit has one main purpose this time. It’s actually to install our new Starlink internet. At first we kept getting so many downloads that we ran out of our data cap in about three days every month. Then we went up to 40 gigs per month to solve that problem. I came home to finish writing my book in May and although we had plenty of Data it rained all the time and we ran out of electricity instead!
