I am an adventure traveler who grew up as a part of The Long Family of Gorge River. We are the most isolated family in New Zealand. We live 2 days walk from the nearest road on the South Island West Coast, between Haast and Milford Sound. In this video, I will show you Possum fur products. Possums are a pest in New Zealand and in this video we discuss how my family makes hats, bedspreads and other items out of the incredibly warm fur from the possums that we hunt at Gorge River. The possum hats are the warmest hat you will ever find, guaranteed! That's why they are so popular in Antarctica. Possums came to New Zealand over a hundred years ago. They bought into the country to establish a fur trade, because they have got the warmest fluffiest fur ever. They absolutely love the native bush here. The possums loved it so much that they’re multiplied and there are now about 70 million of them in the country. That’s a lot considering there’s only four million people.
