But, at the time I wrote this song I was definitely starting to feel professional burnout. Writing 4-5 songs a week, day in and day out I lost sight of why I loved making music in the first place. I said no to family vacations, turned down invitations to parties and overall preferred working and writing to anything else. I think as young people we’re conditioned to believe that someone is working harder than us and if we want to reap any benefits in life we have to work ourselves senselessly. But seriously, for your mental health you need to step away sometimes. In my case, I need to live life if I want something to write about.
