Wim's composed solo PART 2 over spain - 2022 - With GuitarTAB in description "Here is part 2 of a cool project! Spain is a supercool song on which you can jam with bluesy licks just in Bminor or you can go all the way with crazy scales and sweep techniques. In this part I'm exploring a technique with groups of 5. I stole it from eric johnson (he does it in minor pentatonic). But when you do it with other arpeggio's and altered scales you get amazing licks. Always take two notes per string and the technique works. The picking should be down-up-up-down etc (check that out!) I found out that composing a solo is much more satisfying than trying to achieve a great solo in the moment (which seems almost impossible while being original at the same time). Taking the time to compose ideas, develop them, incorporate licks from other players, and then practice it to perfection. The funny thing is that once you take the time for composing, also the improvising will get better. I compose it with my old friend from the back days the app guitarpro. I upload it to soundslice together with the video and syncing is super easy at the site. The process of creating, slow (composing) or instant (improvising) is very satisfying. While composing I have much more the feeling of being in control. There can always be people critical, but every note here is my full decision and on stage it's not haha enjoy, you can steal as many licks from this. What works for me in 'stealing licks' is to take really the parts you like the most instead of trying to achieve to play the whole thing. Then incorporate that idea into your playing, when for example composing your own solo's or jamming on a backing track."
