What is smog ? How it forms and how to protect yourself ? Air pollution in India is a big problem, during winters it becomes the original of smog. Smog is a mixture of smoke and fog. Many cities including New delhi experiences this problem every year. When PM 2.5 and PM 10 particles combine with moisture in air smog is formed. Nitrous oxides and Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) also contribute to smog. Smog causes accidents and health related issues. In delhi public health emergency has been declared due to high level of pollution. Safe level of PM 2.5 is 25 µg/m3 but it NCR it reached upto 800-900 µg/m3 Which is very very dangerous. Short term solutions are that air purifier inside your home should be used and if going outside mask must be used, agricultural waste must not be burnt, there must be another alternative.
