Women without Borders's video: MotherSchools Live in Zanzibar

@MotherSchools | Live in Zanzibar
Due to their position at the centre of society, and as the teachers of future generations, mothers play an important role in protecting their children from extremist ideologies. Women without Borders (WwB) established and implemented its ‘MotherSchools: Parenting for Peace’ Model around the world to provide women with the confidence and competence to effectively address the challenges and threats their children face when growing up. The curriculum applies developmental psychology, self-confidence training, interactive exercises, and theoretical sessions. It provides a formalised space where mothers gain key tools and knowledge to combat the threat to extremist ideologies and groups. This short film, entitled ‘Mothers as the First Line of Defence’, features MotherSchools pioneers from India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Zanzibar, and it highlights their experiences as mothers in communities affected by radicalisation.
