World History Encyclopedia's video: The Wars of the Roses: Causes and Consequences

@The Wars of the Roses: Causes and Consequences
Did you know that the Wars of the Roses only got that name over 300 years after they ended? This video is all about the dynastic conflicts between the Yorks and the Lancasters in the 15th century, now known as the Wars of the Roses. The Wars of the Roses (1455-1487 CE) was a dynastic conflict where the nobility and monarchs of England intermittently battled for supremacy over a period of four decades. Besides the obvious consequences of Lancastrian and Yorkist kings swapping thrones several times and the establishment of the House of Tudor at the end of it all, the wars killed half the lords of the 60 noble families of England, established a much more violent political environment, and saw first a boost to the power of the nobility and then a swing back in the favour of the Crown. Finally, the wars have inspired historians and writers forever after, whether it be Tudor propagandists, William Shakespeare, or the creators of such television shows as Game of Thrones. — SUPPORT US VIA OUR PATREON— https://www.patreon.com/join/whencyclopedia — BUY OUR MERCH — https://www.worldhistory.store/ — CHAPTERS — 0:00 Introduction 0:47 The Wars of the Roses (that weren’t wars at all!) 2:56 Causes for the Wars of the Roses 5:29 The Players: The Yorkists 8:22 The Players: The Lancastrians 11:42 Act Five: The Impact and Consequences 13:20 Outro — WANT TO KNOW MORE? — Wars of the Roses https://www.worldhistory.org/Wars_of_the_Roses/ The Wars of the Roses: Consequences & Effects https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1504/the-wars-of-the-roses-consequences--effects/ Causes of the Wars of the Roses https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1498/causes-of-the-wars-of-the-roses/ Battle of Bosworth https://www.worldhistory.org/Battle_of_Bosworth/ — WATCH NEXT — The Spanish Armada vs. The Royal Navy of Elizabeth I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMVORli6lxA The Real History of the Library of Alexandria https://youtu.be/UQxNxc8rNWI The Birthplace of Western Philosophy - History of Ionia https://youtu.be/sJp0_hCPeiU The Poet and Scholar Callimachus of Cyrene https://youtu.be/E6lYw2va4xg — ATTRIBUTIONS — You can find all attribution and credits for images, animations, graphics and music here - https://worldhistory.typehut.com/the-wars-of-the-roses-causes-and-consequences-images-and-attributions-18626 The music used in this recording is the intellectual copyright of Michael Levy, a prolific composer for the recreated lyres of antiquity, and used with the creator's permission.
