@The Tower Of London: Unveiling Remarkable Historical Facts! #history #toweroflondon
Did you know that there is a legend that says as long as the ravens remain on the grounds of the Tower of London, the kingdom will endure? This video is all about the long history of the tower of London from its establishment in the 11th century, its most famous residents, and its popularity as a tourist stop today. The Tower of London is a castle located in London alongside the River Thames which was first built by William the Conqueror from c. 1077 and significantly added to over the centuries. Often referred to in England as simply 'the Tower', it has served as a fortress, palace, prison, treasury, arsenal, and zoo. A castle with the darkest of reputations, fallen kings, queens, and traitors were among those sent to the Tower, although surprisingly few inmates were executed within the castle's grounds. Today, it is a major tourist attraction with visitors eager to experience for themselves a place steeped in the history of England like no other, to admire the picturesque Beefeaters, and be dazzled by the fabulous Crown Jewels. — SUPPORT US VIA OUR PATREON— https://www.patreon.com/join/whencyclopedia — BUY OUR MERCH — https://www.worldhistory.store/ — WANT TO KNOW MORE? — Tower of London https://www.worldhistory.org/Tower_of_London/ Walter Raleigh https://www.worldhistory.org/Walter_Raleigh/ Richard III of England https://www.worldhistory.org/Richard_III_of_England/ British Crown Jewels https://www.worldhistory.org/British_Crown_Jewels/ — WATCH NEXT — King Henry VIII and His Six Wives https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRJhEgD6S1M Elizabethan Theatre, Queen Elizabeth I, and William Shakespeare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K66AFyeSoYE The Spanish Armada vs. The Royal Navy of Elizabeth I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMVORli6lxA An Introduction to the Punic Wars - Ancient Rome vs. Carthage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex0ZtLjsQQg&t — ATTRIBUTIONS — You can find all attribution and credits for images, animations, graphics and music here - https://athena.worldhistory.org/article/MGtMh6OWgqb-Tower-of-London-Images-and-Attributions The music used in this recording is the intellectual copyright of Michael Levy, a prolific composer for the recreated lyres of antiquity, and used with the creator's permission.
