Wow Malta Gozo's video: MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY

The Museum of Archaeology is situated a short walk down Valletta’s Republic street. Once the Auberge de Provence, the structure dates back to 1571 and housed those Knights of the Order of St John originating from Provence. The façade is a stunning example of Baroque architecture, typical of architect Girolamo Cassar’s designs. The Grand Salon, used by the Knights for business and banqueting, features ornately painted walls and wooden ceilings. Under former Minister of Education, Agatha Barbara, the building was converted into a museum in 1958, becoming formally the National Museum for Archaeology in 1974. Follow us !!
