(English below) Vanuit het festivalthema 'Whose House is This?' stelden we in Een boek als thuis steeds een andere schrijver de vraag: in welk boek kwam jij thuis? De antwoorden konden alle kanten opgaan. Misschien kozen auteurs een boek waarin een huis wordt omschreven dat echt voelt als hun thuis. Of als een plek waar zij graag zouden willen wonen. Maar de auteur kon zich ook thuisvoelen in de manier van schrijven of denken in een bepaald boek. Zo werd Een boek als thuis een kijkje in de boekenkast én de ziel van onze festivalauteurs. Chris Keulemans interviewde Roanne van Voorst op vrijdag 17 juni 2022 in Paard Café tijdens het Friday Night Unlimited-programma van de zomereditie van het Winternachten internationaal literatuurfestival Den Haag.. Roanne koos en vertelde over 'Winteren' van Katherine May. Roanne van Voorst (Utrecht, 1983) is dr. in de antropologie, schrijver, onderzoeksjournalist, (TEDx-)spreker en universitair docent. Zij schreef zeven boeken, zowel fictie als non-fictie. Haar laatste boek, Met z'n zessen in bed, onderzoekt de toekomst van liefde en vriendschap. Haar werk werd vertaald in verschillende talen en enkele van haar boeken worden internationaal gepubliceerd. Als 'antropoloog van de toekomst' richt haar onderzoek zich op wat een duurzame en wenselijke toekomst van onze wereld zou kunnen zijn. Daarbij denkt ze vooral na over wat ze 'duurzame menselijkheid' noemt: hoe houden we hoop in een tijdperk dat wordt gekenmerkt door klimaatveranderingen en 'fake news'? Wat houdt ons menselijk, in tijden van robotisering? Zullen we straks verliefd worden op robots, dineren met avatars, en onze werktaken overlaten aan algoritmes? Wat is daarvan het effect op onze samenleving, en op ons individueel geluk en welzijn? The answers could go in all directions. Perhaps the author chose a book that describes a house that feels like his/her own home, or a place where he/she wishes to live. But it could also be a book whose style of writing or manner of thinking makes the author feel at home. Or it could be the relief of finally reading a story in which the protagonist reflects his/her appearance. The program was a peek into the bookshelves as well as the soul of each author. She has written seven books, both fiction and non-fiction. Her latest book, Six in Bed, explores the future of love and friendship. Her work has been translated into several languages ​​and some of her books are published internationally. As an 'anthropologist of the future', her research focuses on what a sustainable and desirable future of our world could be. She mainly thinks about what she calls 'sustainable humanity': how do we keep hope in an era characterized by climate change and 'fake news'? What keeps us human, in times of robotization?
