Writers Unlimited's video: Moving into Space Winternachten 2022: N3rdistan Nana Adjei-Brenyah Robin Block Roanne van Voorst

Fantasy and science fiction are often outside the literary field but are always hugely popular with many readers. During the Winternachten international literature festival The Hague 2022 (theme: 'Whose house is this?'), we not only looked at 'the house' in the traditional sense, but also made room for stories in which the earth no longer suffices as a house or home. During the festival programme 'Moving into Space', Thursday 16 June 2022 at Paard Den Haag, we engaged with authors who think outside the boundaries of the house we know today. American author Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah reminded us with his beautifully poignant work that the future can be a whimsical place. 'Anthropologist of the future' Roanne van Voorst examined the house of the future, while poet and performer Robin Block, a great lover of science fiction, paid tribute to the genre by reading his letter to Palmer Eldritch, a character from Philip K. Tijdens het Winternachten internationaal literatuurfestival Den Haag 2022 (thema: Whose house is this?) keken we niet alleen naar 'het huis' in traditionele zin, maar maakten we ook ruimte voor verhalen waarin de aarde niet meer volstaat als huis of als thuis. Tijdens het festivalprogramma 'Moving into Space', donderdag 16 juni 2022 in Paard Den Haag, gingen we in gesprek met auteurs die buiten de grenzen denken van het huis dat wij nu kennen. De Amerikaanse auteur Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah herinnerde ons er met zijn prachtig aangrijpend werk aan dat de toekomst een grillige plek kan zijn. Antropoloog van de toekomst' Roanne van Voorst onderzocht het huis van de toekomst, terwijl dichter en performer Robin Block, een groot liefhebber van sciencefiction, een ode bracht aan het genre door zijn brief voor te lezen aan Palmer Eldritch, een personage uit Philip K.
