For Ava and Marissa - in honour of a endless friendship. "A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words." - Sent by Donna Roberts Ava's and Marissa's friendship is very familiar to me, it reminds me profoundly of me and Kayleigh. Both me and Marissa love these little girls as if we were sisters, we would give anything to save them, we would do anything to spend the rest of our lives watching them grow up, and both of our little friends had childhood cancer. Unfortunately and tragically, Ava flew to Heaven earlier this year. She was just 6. I cannot comprehend the whys, and I cannot imagine how Marissa misses Ava. Judging by the way I LOVE Kayleigh, knowing she loved Ava the same way, I find it hard to imagine how such cruelty and pain can fit in someone's heart. But then I am reminded - Ava's light is there too. Not just cruelty, not just sadness and despair - LOVE and LIGHT are there too, in Marissa's life, and that's why Ava isn't gone. She is carried deep inside all those who loved her deep, like Marissa. Marissa, thank you for not giving up. Thank you for continuing to fight for kids with cancer even when your precious girl was taken from this world. You will see her again someday, I am sure. I know Ava will watch over Kayleigh forever, until the day we all meet again, the four of us, in a better place. But until that day, me, you and Kayleigh will continue inspiring people to make a BETTER place down here on earth, all along following Ava's light from above! I love you, sister. I love you a lot.
