Y Magazine's video: A Thing of Beauty: Clean Clear Air with BYU Professor Arden Pope

C. Arden Pope III (BS ’78), an economics professor at BYU, shares his perspective on the importance of clean air for physical and emotional well-being worldwide. “Our souls resonate with the clean, clear air,” he says. He and his family feel this as they hike in the mountains above the valley smog and when they hear stories of decreasing pollution changing lives worldwide. Pope especially loves the natural world when he can “see it.” In India, during the COVID-19 pandemic, pollution levels reduced enough that locals could glimpse the Himalayan Mountain range for the first time in years, renewing their appreciation of the beauty around them.
