@MMRDA Cancelled MTHL Metro Corridor | Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Latest Update
Follow me on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/d_naik24/ Mumbai The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority's (MMRDA) plan to resurrect the Mumbai-Nav Mumbai Metro route on the under-construction Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) between Sewri and Navi Mumbai has met a snag. According to a draught assessment provided by MMRDA's consultant, the 22-kilometer bridge will be unable to support the Metro's weight. The MMRDA, on the other hand, stated that it is not ruling out the bridge and that it will investigate whether it can be made to work by boosting the load capacity. The MTHL will connect Sewri and Nhava Sheva and is projected to be completed by 2023, with approximately 65 percent of the work already completed. In January 2022, however, MMRDA announced intentions to hire a consultant to determine if the sea bridge can support the weight of a Metro corridor. Last month, a draught report was produced as a result of this. "The draught assessment pointed out that the bridge might not be capable of coping with the weight of the Metro," MMRDA metropolitan commissioner SVR Srinivas said. We are, however, looking on options such as raising the load capacity. We haven't ruled the project out just yet." The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) issued a detailed project report (DPR) for the Mumbai Trans Harbour Metro Rail Link, a 49-kilometer line between Prabhadevi and Dushmi, in 2010. The project's goal was to promote mass transportation and meet future travel demands while also easing traffic congestion. However, because the MTHL was to be built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the firms interested were not interested in the Metro corridor, believing that citizens would prefer the Metro to using the MTHL and paying a toll. Later, the MMRDA opted to borrow money to build the MTHL, but the Metro idea remained dormant until last year. After the 42-kilometer link between Qingdao and Huandao in China, the MTHL will be the world's second-longest sea link. The six-lane project will provide direct access to Navi Mumbai and the Navi Mumbai International Airport, as well as a gateway to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and farther south into India. According to MMRDA estimates from February 2018, over 70,000 cars are scheduled to utilise the crossing each day, with tolls ranging from $175 to $790. It's possible that toll collection will have to continue for another 23 years.
