Work on the train station, which began in 2018 and will give it a facelift inspired by the city's Ram Temple, is moving quickly, and it is likely to be completed on time. The new Ayodhya Railway station is also being constructed in anticipation of an increase in daily devotee footfall once Lord Ram's enormous temple is completed. In place of the existing 4,000 passengers per day, the train station is being prepared to handle roughly 15,000 passengers each day. The station's passenger handling capacity is expected to be extended to 75,000-110,000 people per day in the second phase. The station will feature a 1,400-square-metre waiting space, 14 retiring rooms, and 76 dorms, 44 for men and 32 for women. A total of 134 vehicles, 68 auto-rickshaws, and 96 two-wheelers will be able to park at the station. The station will also have four elevators and six escalators erected. The first phase will cost Rs 126 crore, while the second phase will cost more than Rs 300 crore. Approximately 22 mail and express trains are currently stopped or passing via the Ayodhya route, with six passenger trains also arriving at the station. After the temple is opened to the public, the number of passenger trains visiting Ayodhya is projected to increase. In 2018, IRCTC launched the Sri Ramayana Express, a 16-day journey that will depart from Delhi's Safdarjung station and visit significant Ramayana locales. The "Shri Ramayan Yatra" rail journey will visit Ayodhya's Ram Janmbhoomi temple, Hanuman Garhi, Saryu Ghat, Nandigram's Bharat-Hanuman Temple and Bharat kund, Janakpur's Ram-Janki Mandir, Sitamarhi's Janaki Mandir and Punaura Dham, Varanasi's Tulsi Manas. The train received a vegetarian certification earlier this month from the Saatvik Council of India (SCI), a non-profit organisation founded with the goal of promoting vegetarian food certification. In addition to rail connectivity, Ayodhya is constructing its first airport, which will serve both domestic and international flights.
