To relieve traffic congestion, the world's third and India's first public transportation ropeway is proposed to be built from Cantt Railway Station to Church Square. Varanasi, also known as the Eastern India Gateway, will cover the Rs 424 crore pilot project for the ropeway service. The overall cost of the pilot project is expected to be split in a 20:80 ratio between the state government and the federal government. Each cable car will have ten seats, according to divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal, who spoke to the news agency IANS earlier. These cars will move at 90-second intervals. The primary terminal will be at the Cantt railway station, with other stations at the Sajan, Rathyatra, and Girjaghar (Godowlia) crossings, according to the final alignment. Between Cantt railway station and Sajan crossing, a turning line will be built.” The estimated travel time to cover the 4.2 kilometres is 15 minutes. The trolley cars, which are planned to number 220, will operate at a height of 45 metres and have a seating capacity of ten people each car. The fact that the cars move at 90-120 second intervals is what makes the ropeway system speedy and efficient. The service will be available at all hours of the day and night. The project will be carried out in the form of a public-private partnership.
