The multi-modal transportation project would serve as a terminal for the Nashik Metro, the Nashik-Pune semi-high-speed rail corridor project, and as a depot for the Nashik Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd's city bus service (NMPML). On Tuesday, NMC commissioner Kailas Jadhav met with MahaRail and MahaMetro officials to discuss the plan. In the first week of next month, Jadhav will meet with the managing directors of MahaRail and MahaMetro to finalise the project. To make the project viable, it will also include shopping malls and hotels. The project will provide seamless passenger transportation. Escalators will connect the existing Nashik Road railway station to the multi-modal transport hub. According to Jadhav, they already own 13 acres at the site, with the remaining 27 acres being purchased by MahaRail and MahaMetro. “We have already discussed the concept with MahaRail and Maha Metro officials. “I will meet with the MDs of both authorities in the first week of next month to finalise the project,” Jadhav said. He went on to say that once the project is completed, a consultant will be hired to prepare a Detailed Project Report. The project's built-up area is expected to be around 4 lakh square metres.
