Yanitsaros's video: Great Greek Women: Nossis devotee of Adonis

@Great Greek Women: Nossis, devotee of Adonis
The song is ΑΧ ΚΟΡΙΤΣΙ ΜΟΥ (ah koritsi mou), by ΓΙΑΝΝΗΣ ΠΛΟΥΤΑΡΧΟΣ (Giannis Ploutarhos). The pretty face is the very beautiful and super talented Peggy Zina (Πέγκυ Ζήνα). The art is mostly from Gabriel Picart. Adonis (Ἄδωνις) was the Phoenican god of agriculture and vegetation. Greek women would celebrated his death and rebirth during the Adonia, spring festivals exclusive to women. They retold and reenacted the life and death of this beautiful youth who was loved by Aphrodite and Persephone. ΝΟΣΣΙΣ (Nossis) was a great poet from Locri (Λοκρίς), today in Calabria, southern Italy. She lived around 300 BC, and was highly praised by ancient scholars for her epigrams and love poetry.
