Jerk with a pause in the dip is an excellent exercise for building strength and rigidity for the dip of the jerk. Many weightlifters dip incorrectly and can't feel the result until the jerk is complete (or incomplete). Pausing in the dip forces the lifter to understand whether they are in a stable position, and move into a better position.
