Kapalbharti Pranayam The process of kapalbhati is related to the breathing process, however it is not a type of pranayam. The word kapalbhati is made up of two words, kapal meaning skull (here skull includes all the organs under the skull too) and bhati means shining, illuminating. 2. Tadasana Tadasana is the basic standing asana in most forms of yoga with feet together and hands at the sides of the body. Tadasana improves posture, strengthens thighs, knees, ankles and and also firms abdomen. Moreover,it is a very useful exercise in height growth. 3. Suryanamaskar Surya Namaskar means to bow down in front of the sun in the morning. The sun is the life source on this planet. This basic yoga exercise improves the digestion by alternate stretching and compression of abdominal organs. 4. Pranayama Pranayama is a Sanskrit word meaning "extension of the praṇa or breath" or "extension of the life force". The word is composed of two Sanskrit words: prana, life force, or vital energy, and Ayama, to extend or draw out. 5. Pawanmuktasana Pawanmuktasana is a very powerful pose at the beginning of the asana practice, which helps entire digestive system and makes asana practice easier. Pawanmuktasana is also known as Gas Release Posture. 6. Salabhasana When this pose is demonstrated, it resembles a locust. Hence the name Salabha, a locust. Among the 12 basic Hatha yoga postures, Locust Pose (Salabhasana) is the seventh of them. It is also the second of the three exercises for strengthening the back. 'Shalabha' is a Sanskrit term which means 'grasshopper' or 'locust'. 7. Bhujangasana Bhujangasana is useful for people with respiratory disorders such as asthma. Bhujangasana means a Snake or Cobra pose. In this asana, body is in the shape of a raised-hood stance of a snake. This exercise rejuvenates our whole body and mind makes us ready for a refreshing day ahead. 8. Marjariasana "Marjariasana or Marzarasana is the cat-stretch, which is an ideal pose in which to rest between two strenuous poses in yoga. It also is a way to relieve the muscles that have become tensed with more intense back-bends. 9. Shavasana This asana is known as Shavasana / Savasana or Corpse Pose as it makes you appear like a dead body. This asana is one of the easiest asanas to do but the most difficult to practice. 10. Chakrasana Chakrasana or the wheel pose is a backward bending yoga asana. Chakra in sanskrit means Wheel. In chakrasana, the final position looks like a wheel, hence the name.
