Because damaged blonde hair is not cute :/ Trust me I’ve been there! (Check out my hair growth journey video and you’ll know what I’m talking about.) Also, I made sure to smother my hair in coconut oil for a day before bleaching, and kept the oil in my hair while bleaching it to protect it. Also deep conditioners will be your best friend! My favorites are the Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex masque, the Anti-breakage Strengthening masque by Shea moisture, and Alba Botanica’s Cocoa butter masque! :) I started off with dying my hair blue-black with Revlon Colorsilk dye. I kept it black for a few months until I grew bored of it. I decided I wanted to dye my hair blue, so I started off with bleaching just my bangs with Splat bleach, and then dyed over the orange mess with the Splat dye in the color ‘Blue envy.’ I used Ion color remover on the rest of my black hair, and it turned into a reddish light brown color. The next day, I bleached and dyed all of my hair with the same Splat product. Then one month later, I wanted to be blonde. Blue dye is very hard to get rid of, but not impossible! You will need crush vitamin C tablets, or vitamin C powder and clarifying shampoo and mix them together to apply to your semi-permanent dyed hair. I did this about ten times honestly, and ended up with a greyish-blue color, with random spots of light purple and light brown underneath! I put coconut oil in my hair since this method can be very drying. I waited two days to bleach my hair with the coconut oil remaining in it as I do every time before bleaching. I used Loreal Quick Blue from Sally’s and Matrix volume 30 developer. I got an ugly light green color, and brassy roots. I attempted to tone my hair with Wella Color Charm T18 toner, even though I knew it wouldn’t do much for the green since only a red toner could correct the green tones since green and red counteract. The result was yellowish roots, but still green hair. Before dying my hair, I used a purple packet of Malibu color remover, and it made the green a little lighter. Then, it was time to dye my hair with red tones. I washed out the color remover with the One N’ Only clarifying pre-color shampoo, and did NOT use conditioner. While my hair was wet, i put two tiny drops of coconut oil in my palms and distributed it throughout my hair, focusing on the ends. To get the green tone out, you have to use a dye with red tones. So I used One N’ Only Argan Oil hair color on the green parts of my hair ONLY. I bought two dyes in the colors ‘Lightest Tangerine Blonde’ and ‘Lightest Natural Blonde.’ I used about 1/4 of the Tangerine Blonde, and 3/4 of the Natural Blonde with 20 volume to avoid brassy, blonde hair. And voila! My hair turned into a beautiful golden blonde color and I am very happy with my results! I hope I helped!
