The film is about Trevor Reznik (Bale), a machinist whose insomnia and psychological problems lead to a serious workplace accident involving a co-worker (Ironside). After Reznik is fired, he goes into a downward spiral of guilt, paranoia and delusion. The film was well-received by critics, particularly for Bale's performance.
