भारतीय सेना ने अपने कमांड स्ट्रक्चर में सबसे बड़े बदलाव की तैयारियां पूरी कर ली हैं. संभव है कि अगले एक से डेढ़ साल में भारतीय सेनाओं के एकीकरण और थियेटर कमान पर बड़ा ऐलान हो जाये. थिएटर कमांड के तहत किसी भी सीमा पर एक कमांडर ही आसमान से जमीन तक सारे फैसले लेंगे. यानी आर्मी, एयरफोर्स और नेवी के लिए एक ही कमांडर होगा. सीडीएस जनरल अनिल चौहान ने इसके लिये खाका तैयार कर लिया है और अब रक्षा मंत्रालय और सरकार के फैसला लेते ही इसका ऐलान कर दिया जाएगा.
