Triumph Motorcycles shocked many when it announced that it has signed a partnership with Indian two-wheeler giant Bajaj Auto many years ago. What made bikers excited was the pricing. Triumph and Bajaj officials announced that the first motorcycle from this partnership will be priced under Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom). A Triumph bike for this price was too good to be true, but this is where Bajaj came into the picture. Unlike the Bajaj-KTM and BMW-TVS partnership, Triumph would design and develop the motorcycle themselves, while Bajaj would focus on manufacturing in India to keep the costs low. Additionally, no Bajaj branded bike will be developed based on this new platform. While the launch of the Triumph-Bajaj has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, few spy pictures of the prototypes undergoing testing in Europe have emerged. What we know for sure is that there will be two variants of the Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle - roadster and a scrambler. The Bajaj-Triumph Roadster will be inspired from the Triumph Bonneville series and the Bajaj-Triumph Scrambler from the Scrambler range. The Triumph-Bajaj bike is likely to be unveiled at the 2022 EICMA motorcycle show. The Triumph-Bajaj motorcycle India launch is likely in the first half of 2023. While we don’t have clarity on the engine specs, the new Triumph-Bajaj motorcycle could be powered by a 300-400cc single-cylinder engine.
